Promising 3 year-old filly Dark Confidant resumed from a break with a
dominant win at Kyneton yesterday over 1450m.
In her first appearance since the Group 1 Kennedy Oaks, the daughter of
Pierro showed her class to win by 3.75L despite carrying top weight and
giving away a fitness edge to some older, more seasoned types.
Dark Confidant produced some nice sectionals in this victory, including the
fastest 1200m-1000m split of the entire meeting, and a very strong final
200m. Rider Brad Rawiller was suitably impressed “I rode her like the best
horse, and she won with something in hand…she can step up in class now and
will be even better over more ground.
We are likely to see this Lindsay Park trained filly next at either Sandown
on March 3 or Pakenham on March 4 en route to a possible tilt at some group
races in South Australia.
